About Diana Garcia, LMHC, CDWF.
Diana Garcia is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Plantation who specializes in Anxiety, Life Transitions & Relationship Counseling.
Are you struggling with constant worrying, racing thoughts? Do you notice you’re more irritable and tense? Have you started limiting your life or avoiding meaningful activities in order to stay safe? Or have you just noticed that you’re feeling stuck with your life? A sense that you're not moving forward.
If you’re in a relationship, are you noticing an increase in arguments with your partner? Have you started to feel some distance in your relationship and would like to rekindle your relationship?
Are you ready to find solutions?
Imagine being able to live a value-driven life where you can look at your days and feel a sense of accomplishment. What if you could learn to be more present in your life with all that it entails? What if you could learn to change your response to the things that get in the way of fulfilling your purpose?
If you are in a relationship, imagine that ordinary disagreements are just that, differences that you can learn how to resolve without it spiraling into something bigger? What if your relationship could be your source of strength and safety at all times?
Therapeutically, I tend to employ a client-centered approach which means I genuinely believe you are the expert in your life and I’m helping to guide the process of growth along. I tailor counseling to you and what we believe will be the most helpful in achieving your goals.
Having said that, I also strongly believe in implementing research-based approaches to my work including incorporating interventions and techniques from the following modalities:
Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) – a model that utilizes 6 different concepts including mindfulness and acceptance techniques coupled with a focus on behavioral changes to increase psychological flexibility. Read More
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – a model that focuses on changing unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors in order to enact change. This model states that an individual’s thoughts are responsible for his/her response rather than the situation itself. Read More
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) – an approach to couples therapy that focuses on changing rigid distressing cycles of engaging with one another by restructuring emotional responses. Read More
Motivational Interviewing (MI) – a method of engaging with an individual in order to strengthen internal motivation for changing behaviors. Read More
I’m also a Certified Daring Way Facilitator which means I’m trained to implement the Daring Way™ and Rising Strong™ work done by Dr. Brené Brown. The Daring Way™ is a highly experiential methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. During the process, facilitators explore topics such as vulnerability, courage, shame, and worthiness.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME
I am the founder of Nurturing Minds Counseling PLLC. I have a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Florida International University.
When I’m not working, I love to spend time with my family and friends going to the beach, eating good food or just catching a movie. I’m also a bookworm who juggles reading my book club picks, listening to my audible app (not sure if that’s cheating :), and alternating between fiction and non-fiction books.
